The ERP MA utilizes BAPIs to import, add, update, delete, and set passwords for objects in the connected SAP system. The ERP MA is flexible and can support any FIM operation for any object type, provided the appropriate BAPIS have been exposed and the ERP MA Configuration Tool has been used to set up the corresponding configuration. Prior to using the ERP MA, you should consider what object types and operations will be managed by the ERP MA. For each object type-operation combination to be implemented, you should determine which BAPIS are required to complete the operation. If you are not familiar with SAP, you may need to work with a SAP administrator to collect this data.

The ERP MA includes a configuration tool (known as the ERP MA Configuration Tool). The ERP MA Configuration Tool is used to specify what object types, attributes, operations, and functions will be used by the ERP MA. The ERP MA ships with a default configuration file that supports Full Import, Export-Add, Export-Update, and Export-Delete for users and employees as well as Password Set for users on SAP 4.7. The ERP MA Configuration Tool allows the ERP MA to be flexible and support non-standard operations. The ERP MA Configuration Tool can also be used to optimize performance for large scale imports as well as setting additional configuration parameter. See ERP MA Configuration Tool Concepts for additional information. The ERP MA is a call-based MA for exports and a file based MA for imports.

Setup and Configuration of the ERP MA

Setup and Configuration of the ERP MA includes the following steps:

  1. Installing the prerequisite software: Forefront Identity Manager and the SAP .NET connector

  2. Installing the ERP MA (run the standalone ERP MA setup MSI)

  3. Using the ERP MA Configuration tool to create the ERP MA configuration XML, assembly, and cs-schema file. Even if you are using the default configuration, you need to use the ERP MA Configuration Tool to create the required configuration XML and assemblies.

  4. Adding the ERP MA to FIM and configuring the MA, including updating the MA with the schema generated through the ERP MA Configuration Tool.
