Performing a LiveUpdate

LiveUpdate checks Symantec ESM to determine which updates are needed. When Symantec ESM is licensed, content updates are automatically downloaded and installed. Managers make updates available to agents when you initiate policy runs on the agents.

The Content updates for ESM 9.0 are available on the Liveupdate server under ESM 6.5+ Content Updates.

Note:

If you use the luall command from the command line to initiate a LiveUpdate, you cannot install content updates.

If you run the LiveUpdate that includes a security update or best practices policy, LiveUpdate displays a status message for the following components:

To perform a LiveUpdate

  1. On the console task bar, click the LiveUpdate icon.

  2. Alternatively, click Install New Licenses to add licenses for either Symantec ESM or Vulnerability Assessment module content updates. Click Browse to find and add new licenses in the form of .slf files.

  3. Select either the Internet or a network directory path as the source of your LiveUpdate operation, and then click Next.

  4. On the window that shows the Symantec applications that you have installed, click Next.

  5. Select the managers on which you want to install LiveUpdate, and then click Next.

  6. In the LiveUpdate Progress panel, click the Status tab for the status of the LiveUpdate. The Error tab displays if the LiveUpdate encounters any error. Click OK.

  7. In the Update complete panel, click Finish.
