Warning banners (/etc/issue) (UNIX)

Module: Login Parameters

This check looks for appropriate warning banners in /etc/issue file on Solaris systems. The check does not report if the file is not available on the system. The check reports banners that do not match at least one of the regular expressions that are specified in the name list of check titled "Warning banners". This check should be executed along with the check titled "Warning Banners". The check will not report for any banner if executed as a stand-alone check.

Description:The contents of the named file do not match any of the regular expressions that are listed in the check's name list. If the named file is "eeprom," the oem-banner eeprom setting did not exactly match any of the text strings that are specified in the name list. The eeprom check does not recognize regular expressions syntax. Use warning banners to provide legal notice to users that your systems are monitored to detect unauthorized uses.
