These are the steps to remove Microsoft Forefront Protection 2010 for Exchange Server (FPE) from a Local Continuous Replication system.

To uninstall from an LCR system
  1. Ensure that the Forefront Protection 2010 for Exchange Server Administrator Console is not running.

  2. In the Control Panel, double-click Services.

  3. Stop the Microsoft Forefront Server Protection Controller service. This causes the Microsoft Exchange Transport Service and Microsoft Exchange Information Store to also be stopped. When all these services have stopped, close the Services dialog box.

  4. In the Control Panel, double-click Add or Remove Programs.

  5. Select Microsoft Forefront Server Protection and click Remove. When you are asked to confirm your decision, click Yes.

  6. On the Uninstall Complete dialog box, click Finish.

  7. Any settings that you have made still remain in .fdb files in the Microsoft Forefront Protection for Exchange Server folder in Program Files (or whatever folder you selected during installation). Additionally, the incidents and quarantine database files remain, as well as Statistics.xml. If you will be reinstalling FPE and want to retain those settings, do nothing. If you will not be reinstalling FPE or if you want to start with fresh settings, delete that folder.

  8. If you are not planning to reinstall FPE, restart the stopped Exchange services.
