These are the steps to uninstall Microsoft Forefront Protection 2010 for Exchange Server (FPE) from an SCC system. The Add or Remove Programs tool takes the CMS offline on the active node. You do not have to stop services to uninstall FPE from an SCC system.

Important:
Do not restart any computer until FPE is uninstalled on all nodes, even if the uninstaller prompts you to restart the computer. Otherwise, if an active node is restarted, the CMS running on that node may move to a passive node before the passive node can be uninstalled successfully. Do not manually move any CMS until FPE has been uninstalled on all nodes.

Uninstall FPE from the active nodes first, then from the passive nodes.

To uninstall from an SCC system
  1. In the Control Panel, double-click Add or Remove Programs.

  2. Select Microsoft Forefront Server Protection and click Remove. When you are asked to confirm your decision, click Yes. When uninstalling from clustered servers, the Remove Program tool takes the CMS offline on the active node.

  3. After FPE has been removed from the active node, repeat steps 1-2 for the passive node.

  4. Restart all computers from which FPE was uninstalled.
