For this procedure, you can manually refresh a management agent's schema by synchronizing it with the connected data source schema. You might need to refresh the management agent schema when the connected data source schema has been changed. To complete this procedure, you must be logged on as a member of the FIMSyncAdmins security group.

To refresh a management agent schema
  1. On the Tools menu, click Management Agents.

  2. In Management Agents, select a management agent.

  3. On the Actions menu, click Refresh Schema.

  4. Complete the steps in Management Agent Designer.

Caution

Microsoft® Forefront Identity Manager (FIM) 2010 maintains a management agent schema that reflects the object and attribute structure in the connected data source schema. If you change the connected data source schema, you can manually refresh the management agent's schema to synchronize with the connected data source schema. This can cause any associated rules extensions to perform incorrectly when you run the management agent. It might be necessary to update any associated rules extensions after you refresh the management agent schema.

Note

It is only necessary to perform this procedure if the connected data source schema has changed since the time that the management agent was created.

Note

If the connected data source schema is large, it might take an extensive amount of time to refresh the management agent schema. Do not refresh a management agent's schema too close to a scheduled run.
