To configure tunneling protocol for a remote
site network
In the console tree of ISA Server Management, click
Virtual Private Networks (VPN).
In the details pane, click the Remote Sites tab, and
then select the applicable remote network.
On the Tasks tab, click Configure Remote
Site.
On the Protocol tab, select one of the following:
L2TP/IPsec. To enable Layer Two Tunneling Protocol
(L2TP) over Internet Protocol security (IPsec) authentication and
encryption protocol to pass through the ISA Server computer.
If you select this option, you can optionally select Use
preshared key IPsec authentication instead of certificate
authentication, and type a preshared key that will be used for
secondary authentication. This preshared key must be configured on
each client that will connect using this policy.
PPTP. To enable Point-to-Point Tunneling Protocol (PPTP)
to pass through the ISA Server computer. PPTP is a tunneling
protocol used to manage tunnels and encapsulate data.
Notes
To open ISA Server Management, click Start, point to
All Programs, point to Microsoft ISA Server, and then
click ISA Server Management.
For ISA Server 2006 Enterprise Edition, expand
Microsoft Internet Security and Acceleration
Server 2006, expand Arrays, expand
Array_Name, and then click Virtual Private
Networks (VPN).
For ISA Server 2006 Standard Edition, expand Microsoft
Internet Security and Acceleration Server 2006, expand
Server_Name, and then click Virtual Private
Networks (VPN).
Important
This task can be performed only on PPTP and L2TP networks. To
specify IPsec tunnel mode tunneling protocol, you must create a new
remote network.
