To rename a Configuration Storage server (Enterprise Edition)

ISA Server 2006 Enterprise Edition only

  1. On the computer running ISA Server Management, edit the Hosts file as follows:
    1. Open the Hosts file in the %windir%\system32\drivers\etc folder.
    2. On a blank line, type the current IP address of the Configuration Storage server, followed by at least one space, and then the new name of the Configuration Storage server (the same name that you will specify in step 3).
    3. Save the Hosts file.
  2. Check that all array members are currently using their primary Configuration Storage server. For instructions, see View the configuration status (Enterprise Edition). For instructions on how to change the primary Configuration Storage Server for an array, see Specify a Configuration Storage server for this array (Enterprise Edition).
  3. Rename the Configuration Storage server. You will have to restart the computer for the rename setting to take effect.
  4. On the computer running ISA Server Management, remove the entry you added from the Hosts file.
  5. On the computer running ISA Server Management, specify the new name of the Configuration Storage server. On each array, perform the steps detailed in Specify a Configuration Storage server for this array (Enterprise Edition).
