You can configure ISA Server to meet your specific security and performance needs by defining and configuring rules that determine whether users, computers, or applications are granted access to computers in your network and on the Internet. ISA Server allows you to define several types of rules:
When an internal client requests an Internet object, ISA Server processes the rules to determine if the request is allowed.
Similarly, when an external (Internet) client requests an object from an internal server, ISA Server processes the rules to determine if the request is allowed.
