The FPCAlert object defines an alert. When a specific event occurs, this object determines the actions that ISA takes in response to that event. The FPCAlert object also defines the three thresholds that determine when actions will be taken. Alerts allow ISA to notify an administrator when certain events take place. The administrator can decide in advance which actions to take. You can access the properties of the actions to be taken through the FPCAlertActions collection.
This topic explains how to add a new alert to ISA. To a filter developer, adding a new alert is not necessary, but it could be useful for testing.
The most efficient way to add a new alert to ISA is from ISA Management. To add an alert, open ISA Management. Right-click the Alerts node in the console tree. On the menu, select New and Alert. Follow the instructions in the wizard.
