The purpose of the SMTPFLTR filter is to screen incoming Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP) messages. The filter looks for a specified string in the data section of an e-mail message. If the string is found, the filter signals an ISA event. In addition, it adds a text string to the beginning of the Subject: line in the e-mail message.
Both strings are read from the FPCVendorParametersSet object, making them configurable by the ISA administrator.
This document shows how to test the filter in two real-life scenarios:
More information on the SMTP protocol definitions can be found in RFC 821 and RFC 1830.
Note The procedures presented here refer to the use of a Microsoft mail server. If you are using a different mail server, refer to its accompanying documentation for configuration information.
