About Internet Security and Acceleration Server 2004

Microsoft® Internet Security and Acceleration (ISA) Server 2004 integrates firewall and cache features to secure networks and improve their performance. ISA Server 2004 is an extensible platform that provides security, efficient use of network resources by means of sophisticated caching mechanisms, and administration tools. ISA Server 2004 runs on computers that use Microsoft Windows® Server 2003 or an operating system from the Windows 2000 Server family, and relies on the features and functionality of these operating systems.

ISA Server consists of several technologies:

• Microsoft Firewall service.
• A Web proxy.
• Secure network address translation (SecureNAT).
• Advanced caching capabilities, including RAM caching.
• Dynamic Internet Protocol (IP) packet filtering.
• Alerting.
