For this procedure, in Management Agent Designer, on the
Specify Logon Information page, you connect to a server
running Sun ONE Directory Server 5.0, 5.1, or 5.2 (formerly iPlanet
Directory Server), Sun ONE Directory Server 4.12 or 4.13, or
Netscape Directory Server 4.1 or 6.01. You must provide a server
name, a user name and password with administrator rights, and a
logon domain. Each time the management agent is run, it will use
this information to logon to the directory server to read or write
to the directory that you specify. To complete this procedure, you must be logged on as a member of the MIISAdmins security group.
This procedure applies to management agents for the following
Microsoft Identity Integration Server 2003 editions:
Enterprise Edition
Identity Integration Feature Pack for Active Directory
Sun and Netscape directory servers
N\A
To connect to a Sun or Netscape directory
server
In Management Agent Designer, on the Specify Logon
Information page, in Server, type the name of the
directory server you want to connect to, and then, type a port
number, user name, and password.
If you want to secure all network communications by using
Secure Sockets Layer (SSL), select the Enable Secure Sockets
Layer (SSL) for communications check box.
If you want to secure the user name password when users log on,
select the Enable Simple Authentication and Security Layer
(SASL) for communications check box.
Important
If you do not select Enable Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) for
communications and Enable Simple Authentication and Security
Layer (SASL) for communications, all network communications,
including logon information and connected data source import
identity information, are sent as plain text. If you want to secure
only the user name and password, select Enable Simple
Authentication and Security Layer (SASL) for
communications.
Notes
If you do not know the port number used to connect to your
server, type 389. This is the most common default port number.
Logon user names for Sun directory servers are typically
prefaced with cn=. For example, cn=Administrator.
You are not required to install Microsoft Identity Integration Server 2003 on the server running the Sun ONE or Netscape
Directory Server. You can install Microsoft Identity Integration Server 2003, and the Sun ONE or Netscape Directory Server
on different servers.
