For this procedure, in Metaverse Designer, you can configure the
order in which two or more attributes configured for import
attribute flow are applied. This can be useful when multiple
management agents contribute to a single metaverse attribute, and
you want to guarantee that one particular imported attribute is
given precedence over all others. To complete this procedure, you must be logged on as a member of the MIISAdmins security group.
To configure attribute flow precedence
On the Tools menu, click Metaverse Designer.
In Metaverse Designer, in Object types, click an
object that contains an attribute you want to set precedence
for.
In Attributes, click the attribute you want to set
precedence for.
In Actions, click Configure Attribute Flow
Precedence.
In Configure Attribute Flow Precedence, click a
management agent with source attribute, and then click the up or
down arrow to change the order of precedence.
To prevent automatic precedence rules from being applied,
select Use manual precedence.
Important
If you select Use Manual precedence, all flows into the
selected metaverse attribute must be defined in rules extension. If
direct mapping is later configured for an attribute, it will revert
to ordered precedence. For more information about using rules
extensions for attribute flow precedence, open the Microsoft Identity Integration Server 2003 Developer Reference.
Notes
In Metaverse Designer, you can specify attribute precedence for
only those attributes that have two or more attribute flow rules
specified in one or more management agents.
Management agents that display a source attribute are listed in
the order that the management agents were created.
