How to use the rescue disk

Rescue disks are used when it is impossible to start up the computer normally due to a virus infection. In these cases, you should start up or restart the computer with the rescue disk in the corresponding drive (CD-ROM or DVD drive). The disk will allow you to start the computer and will carry out a full scan during startup.

If you need to use the rescue disks to start your computer in a virus-free environment, follow the steps below:

  1. Start up the computer with the rescue disk inserted in the corresponding drive

  2. Follow the instructions displayed on screen.

If you have the Panda Antivirus Pro 2010 installation CD, you can use it to start the computer in case of emergency. For more information refer to How to use the installation CD as a rescue disk.

Note: Scans will always be run with the most recent malware signature file available, either on the computer or the disks.
