Connection rules for installed programs

There are certain parameters you can define when adding or configuring a rule:

Action: Use the drop-down menu if you want to allow or deny connections established by programs through the ports, IPs, protocols or zones you select.
Direction: Specify if you want the rule to affect inbound connections, outbound connections, or both.
Zone: It lets you apply the rule to the connections that the program establishes on the local network (trusted zone), on the Internet (public network) or both.
Protocol: You can specify to which protocol the rule will apply (TCP and/or UDP).
Port: It allows you to specify the ports to which the rule will apply. Communication through these ports will be denied or allowed depending on the option you select in the Action field. You can select one of the listed ports or choose any other one. If you want to select a specific port, select the option Customized and indicate the corresponding ports or ranges. To add more than one port, separate them with commas. Ranges should be separated by a hyphen (For example: 6700, 6800, 6900-7000).
IP addresses: If you only want the program to connect through a specific IP, or range of IPs, you can indicate this in the corresponding box.

Configure connection permissions for installed programs

Whenever a program tries to connect to the Internet, the firewall asks if you want to allow or deny the connection.

If you want to change the permissions you have assigned through the messages displayed by the firewall, you can do so in the firewall settings. Specifically, you can allow or deny program connections (inbound, outbound or both).

On assigning inbound and outbound permissions to a program you are allowing all connections that the program makes, regardless of the communication ports or protocols, etc. that the program uses.

If necessary, you can create advanced connection rules for the programs installed. This lets you indicate exactly which ports a program can use, the protocols (TCP and/or UDP), the IP addresses with which it can communicate, or even if it can connect to a public network (Internet), a trusted network (local) or both.

The data specified on creating an advanced connection rule will only affect the selected program.

This window contains the list of rules you have created for a specific program, and it lets you establish the priority with which the rules will be applied. You can order them using the Up and Down buttons. The rule in the first place in the list will have priority over the rule in second place, and so on.
