Data for filter lists may be created offline in Notepad or a similar text editor and then imported into a filter list in the Forefront Protection 2010 for SharePoint Administrator Console. A list created on one Microsoft Forefront Protection 2010 for SharePoint (FPSP) server may be exported to a local file and then imported for use on another FPSP server.

Note:
FPSP can only import lists that are UTF-16 or ANSI files. Other Unicode types will not be properly imported.

Before importing items into a filter list, you must first create the data to be imported and save it as a text (.txt) file. Be sure to place each filter item on its own line in the file.

To import items into a filter list
  1. In Notepad or a similar text editor, create the data to be imported and save it as a text (.txt) file. Be sure to place each filter item on its own line in the file.

  2. In the FPSP Administrator Console, select an existing filter list into which you are importing data. Data may also be imported at the time you create a filter list. In that case, skip the next step.

  3. Edit the filter list by clicking the Edit button.

  4. In the Edit File Filter List dialog, on the Select File Names pane, or on the Edit Keyword Filter List dialog, on the Filter Details pane, click Import.

  5. In the file Explorer window, navigate to the text file you created, select the file, and then click Open.

The items in the file are imported into the filter list.

  6. You can edit or delete any of the items in the list. For more information about editing and deleting items, see Creating a keyword filter list or Creating a file filter list.

  7. Click Next to navigate to the Target pane, and then Finish to exit the dialog box.

  8. Click Save.
