The results window for Symantec Power Eraser provides the
following options:
Scan Completed The results of the scan are displayed in
a table with the following controls/columns:
Checkboxes Each file has a checkbox so that the file can
be selected for actions initiated with buttons at the bottom of the
window. The checkbox in the column header row provides a check or
uncheck all selection.
Risk This column features the file name. Clicking on the
name produces a window which provides more detailed information
regarding the file.
Type This column indicates the context in which the file
was discovered.
Status This column provides the scan result in the form
of one of three descriptors: good, investigate,
bad. By default only investigate and bad files are displayed
in the Scan Completed table.
Recommendation This column provides the recommended
course of action based on the analysis of the file.
Filter Display This link opens a small window that
allows you to change what is displayed in the Scan Completed table.
This windows contains the following controls:
Type This section of the Filter Display window contains
checkboxes for selecting what types of files to display. A type is
a context in which a file is found or simply a quality of the file.
Types allow the user to narrow the number of items to display in
the list.
Status This section of the Filter Display window
contains checkboxes for selecting which status types to display. By
default 'Bad' and 'Investigate' are selected.
Definitions The link that follows 'Definitions' both
indicates the status of the definitions and provides a means to
display the Symantec Power Eraser Definitions window. This window
provides information regarding the definition set used by the
scan.
Copy This button provides a file save dialog that allows
the user to select a location to copy the file to. This is
typically done in preparation for submitting the file to Security
Response for further examination.
Remove This button provides the user with the ability to
remove the file from the system. This requires a system reboot
which Symantec Power Eraser will perform.
Done This button closes the Results window. The results
will be made available in a page in the main window.
