If you want to use a different certificate for the Web site that you plan to publish on the Web server, after you export the certificate from the Web server on which the certificate was requested and import the certificate to a Forefront TMG computer, you must dissociate the exported certificate from the Web site in Internet Information Services (IIS). You may also want to delete the certificate from the Web server. This will reduce the possibility that the certificate will be used elsewhere.

Use the following procedures to remove the certificate from the Web server. These procedures dissociate the certificate from the Web site in IIS and delete the certificate from the computer.

To dissociate the certificate from the Web site in IIS

  1. On the Web server, click Start and then point to Administrative Tools. Click Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager.

  2. In Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager, expand Web Sites, right-click the name of the applicable Web site, and then click Properties.

  3. On the properties dialog box, click the Directory Security tab.

  4. On the Directory Security tab, click the Server Certificate button to launch the Web Server Certificate Wizard.

  5. On the Welcome to the Web Server Certificate Wizard page, click Next.

  6. On the Modify the Current Certificate Assignment page, select Remove the current certificate, and then click Next.

  7. On the Remove a Certificate page, click Next.

  8. On the Completing the Web Server Certificate Wizard page, click Finish.

  9. Close Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager.

To delete the certificate from the computer

  1. Open the MMC console that you created in Installing a certificate from a commercial certification authority. To do this, click Start, point to All Programs, point to Administrative Tools, and select LocalComputerCertificates.msc (or the name that you provided when you saved the console settings).

  2. In the console tree, expand the Certificates (Local Computer) node, expand Personal, click Certificates, and right-click the certificate. Click Delete, and then click OK on the warning dialog box.
