You can join a Forefront TMG server to a standalone array or to an array centrally managed by an Enterprise Management Server (EMS).
When joining Forefront TMG to a standalone array, new policies and updated configurations are updated from a single Forefront TMG server, which is defined as the array manager. If you require managing more than a single array, you can install an EMS in order to enable you to centrally manage all the arrays in your network. From a single point, you can apply enterprise policies and manage configuration updates to all arrays in the EMS. The following scenarios describe the different array types that you can configure after you've installed Forefront TMG on your server:
- Creating a standalone
array
- Creating an enterprise
array
- Joining a standalone
server to an array in a workgroup deployment
- Joining a server to an
enterprise array
- Removing a server from
an enterprise array
- Removing a server from
an enterprise array

You can only join or remove a server from a standalone array or enterprise array on the local server. This cannot be done remotely. |
