Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync is a Microsoft Exchange synchronization protocol that is optimized to work together with high-latency and low-bandwidth networks. The protocol, that is based on HTTP and XML, lets devices, such as browser-enabled cellular telephones, Windows Phone 7, or Windows Mobile powered devices, access an organization's information on a server that is running Microsoft Exchange. Exchange ActiveSync enables mobile device users to access their e-mail, calendar, contacts, and tasks, and to continue to access this information while they are working offline.
To publish Exchange ActiveSync through Forefront Unified Access Gateway (UAG):
- In the Forefront UAG Management console,
either publish a new Exchange application as described in Publishing Outlook Web
Access on a Forefront UAG portal, or add the
Exchange ActiveSync mail service to an existing published
application.
Make sure that if you publish a new Exchange application, you select the Exchange ActiveSync mail service.
- Exchange ActiveSync does not appear as
an application in the portal even if the Handheld device or
Mobile internet browser check boxes are selected on the
Application Properties dialog box.
