If Microsoft System Center Operations Manager 2007 is deployed, you should use the Forefront Unified Access Gateway (UAG) management pack (version 4.0.1095.0) to monitor Forefront UAG servers. The Forefront UAG management pack includes monitors, rules, and views, for monitoring and troubleshooting problems on Forefront UAG servers. The management pack also includes health models, that are based on the Service Modeling Language (SML), to analyze the performance, availability, configuration and security inputs, as well as the status of Forefront UAG, and determine the overall status of the system.

You can create customizations within a management pack, such as overrides or new monitoring objects. As a best practice, you should create a separate management pack for each sealed management pack you want to customize.

After you import the Forefront Unified Access Gateway (UAG) management pack, the Microsoft Forefront UAG node is added to the Operations Manager monitoring pane.

On at least a daily basis you should monitor your Forefront UAG servers and arrays using the features described below.

The Forefront UAG management pack discovers the Forefront UAG and Forefront UAG DirectAccess object types:

The Operations Manager monitoring pane provides the following views:

The Forefront UAG management pack also provides Tasks to restart Forefront UAG DirectAccess services, such as; IP Helper (iphlpsvc), Base Filtering Engine (BFE), and IKE and AuthIP IPsec Keying Modules (IKEEXT).
