UserGate speed limitations
UserGate has two built–in
mechanisms to set traffic speed limit. The first method is to set
traffic speed limit through a user profile or traffic control rule
(“Speed – Set up Speed”) and the second one – by using the
“Bandwidth Manager”. The first method is not universal since it
restricts only the incoming traffic speed for all connections of
the user without an opportunity of division into protocols or into
destination address and port. This limitation mechanism is the
simplest one and it works via proxy services and translation rules
to limit traffic.
Since the opportunity of overall speed limitation for a user group is not provided in this mode, it is not enabled by default. To restrict the overall speed of a user group, it is recommended to use “Bandwidth Manager” (see following). |
