Update

Alert if last update older than n day(s)

In this box you can enter the maximum number of days allowed to have passed since the last update of Avira AntiVir Premium. If this number is exceeded, a warning is displayed in the Scheduler.

Show notice if the signature database with detection patterns is out of date

If this option is enabled, you will obtain an alert message if the virus definition file is not up-to date. With the help of the alert option, you can configure the temporal interval for an alert message if the last update is older than n day(s).

Full system scan

In this area you can configure the status display for the full system scan in Control Center under Overview:: Status.

‘Yellow’ status if older than n days

Enter an interval in days after which, if exceeded since the last complete system scan, the status display should switch to yellow. The specified interval must be shorter than the interval specified for red status. The standard value of seven days is recommended.

‘Red’ status if older than n days

Enter an interval in days after which, if exceeded since the last complete system scan, the status display should switch to red. The specified interval must be greater than the interval specified for yellow status. The standard value of 30 days is recommended.

Note
If you specify 0 for both intervals, status monitoring is disabled for the complete system scan. A green symbol is always displayed. This setting should only be made in exceptional cases. If only set one interval to 0, the specification is discarded as invalid.

Product protection

Prevent processes from being terminated

If this option is enabled, all AntiVir processes are protected against unwanted termination by viruses and malware or against 'uncontrolled' termination by a user e.g. via Task-Manager. This option is enabled as the default setting.

Important
Protection is not yet available for 64-bit systems!

Warning
If process protection is enabled, interaction problems can occur with other software products. Disable process protection in these cases.

Protect files and registry entries from manipulation

If this option is enabled, all registry entries of AntiVir Premium and all program files (binary and configuration files) are protected from manipulation. Protection against manipulation entails preventing write, delete and, in some cases, read access to the registry entries or program files by users or external programs.

Note
When this option is activated, changes can only be made to the configuration, including changes to scan or update requests, can only be made by means of the user interface.

Important
File and registry entry protection is not yet available for 64-bit systems!
