This section outlines best practices to follow when configuring a new ERP MA.
- Start all new ERP MA configurations by using
the ERP MA Configuration Tool. The Configuration Tool will generate
all the files necessary for setting up an ERP MA in FIM.
- When using the ERP MA configuration tool, it
is best to start with one of the default templates shipped with the
MA. If necessary, you can modify the template for your
environment.
- The first time you connect to SAP through the
ERP MA Configuration Tool, a discovery process is launched which
caches the BAPIs that are available to the ERP MA. Depending on the
Discovery filters that are used, the Discovery process may take a
long time (3 minutes average using the default filters). It is
recommended that you complete the discovery and caching phase prior
to configuring a new MA. For more information, see the section on
How to Configure a New Discovery Cache File.
- Date values sent to SAP R3 via RFC calls must
be formatted for the locale of the SAP R3 server. You must use the
ERP MA Configuration Tool to specify the date format to be used by
the ERP MA. This is done by editing the Server Settings via the ERP
Configuration Tool. See How To Configure Server
Settings for the ERP MA for more information.
