Accessing information about checks

You can obtain information about each check in a module by using the ESM console.

Table: Information about checks describes the information that is available about checks.

Information title	Description
Description	Describes what the check does and outlines the security concepts behind the check.
Implications	Describes the reasons for the check,and the possible consequences of a security violation.
Generated message	Displays the message that Symantec ESM creates if the check finds a security violation during a policy run.
Additional resources	Displays a location where you can find more information about the security concepts.

To access information about checks

In the Symantec ESM navigation tree, expand manager > policies > policy name > module.
Click the operating system node.
In the checks grid at the bottom of the screen, click the relevant check.

To access information about checks in the Policy Properties window

In the policies node of the Symantec Enterprise Security Manager tree, right-click a policy, and then click Properties.
In the tree in the Policy Properties window, expand a module, and then expand an operating system name.
Click the check name, and then click Details.

To print and export information about checks

Right-click anywhere in the ESM console pane.
Do one of the following:
- Click Open in default browser to view the data in your default Web browser. Save the data on your computer in Web page form.
- Click Print to send the data to a printer.
