After configuring the on-demand scan (see Configuring the on-demand scan), you can select which mailboxes to scan on-demand.

Scans targeting a large number of mailboxes may run for a long time. If you want to select all mailboxes, it is recommended that you use the scheduled scan instead. For more information about using the scheduled scan, see Scheduling malware scanning of mailboxes and public folders. |

In the Forefront Protection 2010 for Exchange Server Administrator Console's Tasks view, in the tree, expand Task Library, and then click Mailbox On-Demand.

In the Task Library - Mailbox On-Demand pane, in the Scan Targets section, you can select one of the following options:
- None—Does not scan any mailboxes. This
is the default.
- Selected—Scans specific mailboxes.
When you choose Selected, the Select Mailboxes button
becomes active.
Note: Mailboxes with names that are made up entirely of backslashes (\) are not scanned.
