E-mail that Forefront Online Protection for Exchange (FOPE) has identified as spam can be quarantined in the FOPE datacenter or forwarded to your local Exchange servers for processing by Forefront Protection 2010 for Exchange Server and Outlook.

To configure the quarantine options
  1. In the Forefront Protection 2010 for Exchange Server Administrator Console  Policy Management tree view, expand Online Protection, and then click Configure.

  2. In the Online Protection - Configure pane, in the Quarantine area, select the quarantine option you would like to use for e-mail that is identified as spam by FOPE. The options are:

    • Quarantine in Forefront Online Protection for Exchange datacenter—If this option is selected, spam e-mail is quarantined in the FOPE datacenter.

    • Quarantine on-premise—If this option is selected, spam e-mail is sent to your local Exchange servers for processing and quarantined in the FPE quarantine or Outlook junk mail folders.

  3. Click Save at the top of the pane.

The FOPE quarantine can be accessed through the FOPE on-line Administration Center. To access the administration center, select Administration Center in the Actions pane of the FPE Administrator Console.

You can also access the FOPE quarantine by selecting Monitoring in the tree view and selecting Hosted Quarantine in the Actions pane.
