Using Notepad or a similar text editor, you can create data, offline, for exclusion lists, inclusion lists, and block lists, and then import the data into a filter list in the Forefront Protection 2010 for Exchange Server Administrator Console. You can also export a list created on one Forefront Protection 2010 for Exchange Server (FPE) server to a local file, and then import the list on another FPE server.

Note:
FPE can only import lists that are UTF-16 or ANSI files. Other Unicode types will not be properly imported.

Before importing items into a filter list, you must first create the data to be imported and save it as a text (.txt) file. Be sure to place each filter item on its own line in the file.

To import items into a filter list
  1. Open the appropriate work pane and select the list into which you are importing data.

  2. Open the appropriate “Configure List” dialog box (for example, Configure Allow/Block Lists), and then click Import.

  3. In the Windows file Explorer, navigate to the text file you created, select the file, and then click Open.

The items in the file are imported into the filter list.

  4. Click OK to exit the dialog box, and then click Save.
