UserGate Proxy Server features

UserGate consists of three modules: the Server, the Client of Administration and the Client of Authorization, which can process various types of user authorization.

• UserGate Server is a proxy server, which you can launch either as a Windows application or as a Windows service.
• UserGate Administrator handles the UserGate Server setup and maintenance. It can be launched locally (on the same computer as the server) or remotely (on a distant machine connected through a network or the Internet).

• The caching of frequently accessed web pages and files downloaded from the Internet to high-speed memory that is available for all users. This speeds up your Internet access tremendously.
• Its built-in firewall protects your network from hacker attacks and other intrusions from the Internet.
• It has the capability of dealing with various user authorization methods, including Windows authorization and Active Directory authorization.
• UserGate can automatically dial even complex dial-up connections.
• It comes with an easily configured, advanced system of traffic restrictions for each user or group of users.
• UserGate can be set up to restrict a user's operating time, the amount of traffic sent and accepted per day or month and the length of time spent online per day or month.
• It can report details of each hour of Internet activity.
• Your network administrator can configure lists of forbidden or authorized domain names, IP addresses and URL segments, access to any of which are automatically blocked or allowed.
• UserGate is capable of individual restrictions on connection speeds and amounts of traffic. If a user's traffic limit is exceeded, access to the Internet for that user is closed automatically.
• Filters can be set up to very effectively ban ads of any description, not just from displaying on your screen, but from being downloaded at all, again increasing your Internet speed.
• UserGate has filters that can block access to specific information (e.g. sites with adult content, online games, gambling, etc).
• It has the capability of limiting IP address ranges to your own network, so your Internet connection cannot be accessed by someone off your network even if they somehow stole authorization credentials.
• UserGate comes with a connection to a proxy cascade that can be configured with an authorization option.
• It has an automatic and manual e-mail user report delivery system, which supplies information about traffic, including traffic through servers with SMTP authorization.
• Traffic can be monitored in real-time.
• Automatic calculations of Internet expenses based on time rates and/or traffic rates. You can set up different rates for different users or different groups of users, as well as switch rates depending on time of day, day of week or web address.
• Calculations and reporting of user Internet statistics per day and per site for any interval of time. You can view individual user Internet statistics for the current month from anywhere over the Internet.
• UserGate's Report Generator can export directly to MS Excel.
• UserGate supports the following protocols: HTTP (with caching), FTP (with caching), Socks 4, Socks 5, any UDP/TCP protocol through NAT (Network Address Translation) and through Port Mapping.
