Scan Tab

In this tab the e-mail scan mode is set.

By default, the scan pane contains the following important settings:

· Enabling the heuristic analyzer (a method allowing to detect with high probability suspicious objects infected with yet unknown viruses).
· Scanning files in archives.

It is recommended to keep these settings.

 

It is possible to configure the spam filter only if the Dr.Web application is licensed to work in the "Anti-virus + anti-spam" mode (authorized by the key file).

 

The Check for spam check box enables spam-filtering of incoming messages. By default this check box is selected.

The Spam filter’s settings can be set in the SpIDer Mail Spam Settings window. Click Advanced to open this window.

The Virus activity control check box is selected by default. This mode instructs the program to detect signs peculiar of virus distribution by e-mail. The program can block your sending mail to several addresses. In this case it is recommended to clear the check box.

The Load at startup check box is selected by default. The program automatically starts at every Windows startup. You can clear this check box, in this case the program can be started manually. To start it manually select Load in the context menu of SpIDer Mail.

By default, the mail guard detects, apart from messages with infected objects, messages containing other types of unsolicited programs:

· adware
· dialers

The mail guard can also detect the following types of unsolicited programs:

· riskware
· hacker programs
· joke programs

To change the set of the unsolicited programs to be detected, select the check boxes against the types of unsolicited programs you want to be detected, and clear the check boxes against the types of programs you do not want to be detected.

 

The mail guard’s reaction to detection of unsolicited programs is similar to the reaction to detection of infected messages, specified in the Actions tab.
