Rules

Managing user network activities is based on a flexible set of rules. Using the rules, UserGate administrator can restrict LAN users' access to the Internet, block access to certain web resources, set up individual hourly schedules of Internet activity, perform dynamic shifts between billing plans and keep track of consumed traffic.

For every object a corresponding action is predefined. Therefore, the following object-action pairs exist: Connection - Close, Traffic - Do not count, Rate - Change To, Speed - Set.

Operation of a rule is controlled by given conditions. Conditions could be defined using AND and OR connectives. By default conditions defined on different pages of the rule setup dialogue are combined with the AND connective.

The rule could be applied either to all protocols or to a specified protocol only.

Also the abilities to control rule operation time, to set limits on size of downloadable files / user account balance, as well as to set filters on IP address or URL's are implemented
